 plastic flowers

at the roadside -

everlasting memories

 seagulls flocking

over still waves -

following the plough

 licking the wooden

porridge spoon

the tang of curry

 exhaling through

many tiny mouths

warming porridge

 no need

to run today

Strava is down

 behind an old man

two trailing bloodhounds

floppy jowls

 face down

one the pavement

surgical mask

 girl running

her ponytail waves

goodbye

 black crow

punctuates the white

January air

 red hawthorne berries

the blackbird's

yellow beak

 poised between

ebb and flow

the still boat

 exchanging gifts

in a lay-by

merry covid

 one more tooth

that's not coming home

autumn leaves

 navigating mist

through steamed-up glasses

November running

 molehills

on both sides

of his fence

two farmers

earth clods

their boots

 champagne

in the jacuzzi

social bubbles

 autumn's robin

reclaims his garden

leaf-mould and fencepost

 patches of sunlight

among the tops

of forest shaded trees

 saying those words

you long to hear -

I wrote a haiku

 the squeak of leather

and the soaring buzzard

my companions

 a bee

on the sunflower's face

at 4 o'clock

plastic flowers at the roadside - everlasting memories
